June 2006

Eurosatory, Show Report

We were very pleased to welcome many military, police and special forces visitors to our stand opposite Beretta at Villepinte this year. In addition to the existing range of weapon storage equipment we also demonstrated the new larger 1650mm Stackable Weapon Rack. This new rack offers the same convenience as the 1220mm Rack (especially when combined with a deployable base for fork lift trucks) but with even more capacity. FWS recently supplied these units for the armoury on board a RNZN Navy Ship currently under construction in the Netherlands.

Also new was our Browning M2 .50 Cal Rack which stores 4 guns and 8 barrels – on display in Europe for the first time.

We had the opportunity to discuss gun storage issues with many users and specifiers – some with actual storage issues to address, others working on future weapons deployment questions.

Weapons used in the Gun Racks at Eurosatory

We had a good range of modern firearms for visitors to try for size in the weapon racks including Heckler & Koch G36, HK MP5, the prototype XM8 (see picture), FAMAS, Steyr AUG plus Colt M4 and M16 Assault Rifles. In addition we had Franchi SPAS 12 shotguns, and a number of handguns including Glock 17, 18 and Beretta 92 (US Army M9). We also welcomed representatives from FN to our stand who brought along their P90 Standard and Tactical models and F2000 Standard and Tactical models which were loaded into the weapons racks to show the ease of storage.

We also had a Bren to demonstrate the weight bearing capacity gun rack. Finally, the weapons selection included a Swiss Arms M6 Sniper to demonstrate the rack’s capacity to accommodate long firearms.

Eurosatory, Paris 2006

This year, FWS will be at Eurosatory on Stand H2 (opposite Beretta). Among the many modern rifles, machine guns and pistols we will have on hand to demonstrate the system, we have also located a Brown Bess flintlock musket (withdrawn from service in 1838).

At 1,932mm The Brown Bess was the longest firearm we could find to help us demonstrate the amazing flexibility of our storage system.

Our people will be on hand to demonstrate that the unwieldy Brown Bess will easily fit into our racking alongside an MP5 A4 (retracting stock) which is about a quarter of the length at 510mm. They will store side by side vertically or horizontally.

Of course, we can also provide storage for accessories alongside each individual weapon – whether that’s shot and powder for the Brown Bess or laser sights and magazines for today’s firearms!

This extreme flexibility is what makes the system essential for armouries storing mixed weapon types. Unlike the Brown Bess, the system is also so flexible it won’t become obsolete as weapons technology moves forward – armourers just need to relocate the components as required.

Visit us at Stand H2 – for an invitation please phone our team on +44 1702 430060 or email info@weaponstorage.co.uk

March 2006

Shipboard Weapon Storage – FWS Europe has been chosen as the supplier for weapon storage equipment on board a new warship currently under construction at a major European shipyard. FWS weapon storage equipment was provided for both the ship’s armoury and the embarkation force. FWS was able to provide storage for all types of arms: from machine guns through to pistols and magazines.

Special Forces - FWS have been selected to supply weapons storage equipment to French Special Forces based on west coast of France. A large mixture of weapons are to be stored at the facility. FWS Head of French Sales, Bob Turner, said ‘The Special Forces really need something flexible so they can optimise their operational efficiency’

New Gendarmerie Opens, Paris - FWS was selected to supply the weapons storage equipment used in the armoury at a brand new Gendarmerie in Paris, France. Contractors fitting the Expandable Weapons Rack were delighted with the speed of delivery and the ease of assembly. Weapons stored in the racks include rifles and shotguns. FN P90

FN P90

January 2006

Components to fit F2000, P90 and Five-seveN pistol – We now offer specific components to fit FN Herstal’s F2000 standard and tactical models. With extensive use of composite materials in construction the lightweight, bullpup F2000 is a futuristic weapon which permits accessories to be added or interchanged such as Grenade Launcher, Light, Laser, Bayonet etc. Even the standard sight is on a MIL-1913 Picatinny rail so can be rapidly replaced by another sight.

These features, which make the 2000 a versatile weapon, have also made it challenging to store - until now!

We also offer specially adapted components for the FN P90 stored with sights attached – and also Handgun Storage which also accommodates the 5.7 x 28mm ammunition used with the Five seveN Tactical Pistol.

Storage products for weapons

December 2005

Milipol 2005 - Over 23,000 visitors made it to the Milipol Exhibition at Paris Le Bourget, France at the end of November.

During the week on the FWS stand our team was delighted by both the number of visitors and the response to the product.

Visitors were from all over Europe and beyond. They included Armourers, Military Personnel, Ministers of State, Heads of Police and Senior Military ranks as well as representatives from the major weapons manufacturers.

FWS were demonstrating the full range of weapons storage equipment including: Stackable weapons racks (SWR), Expandable weapons racks (EWR) as well as Secure Weapons Storage Cabinets and a Cart for use in armoury locations.

In addition to the current gun racks, the exhibition was also an opportunity to demonstrate new components such as the Flak Jacket Holder and the 11 Capacity Pistol Peg Rack.

There was also great interest in the weapons transport cases for assault rifles, carbines and pistols.

Las Vegas police department weapons racking

Hand gun racks

October 2005

Installation at Las Vegas Police Department Forensics - US Dealer Terry Gains of TSI Inc racked out the Las Vegas Police Forensics Dept with Expandable Weapons Racking. The LVPD were kind enough to supply photographs of their installation in use - which can be seen below. This installation clearly indicates the combination of high-density storage and ease of access. The photo with rifles also demonstrates how easy it is to store weapons, accessories and ammunition together as a ‘set’ if required.
